Canadian Buddhist Heritage Month is not only a cultural initiative. It is a long-term public effort that requires participation across Canada.
We invite organizations and individuals from diverse backgrounds to take part in this initiative and contribute to advancing the understanding, recognition, and institutional development of Buddhist culture in Canadian society.

Participation Pathways
Strategic Governance
Participate at the leadership level in shaping the direction and long-term development of the initiative.
This role focuses on national coordination, strategic planning, and institutional alignment to ensure consistency across cultural, social, and policy efforts.
You can contribute by:
- joining the organizing committee or specialized working groups such as policy, programming, or external relations
- contributing to the development of strategic direction, core messaging, and the Joint Statement
- supporting the coordination of cross-regional and cross-traditional collaboration
- engaging with government, institutions, and partner organizations at a strategic level
- participating in key decision-making and long-term planning processes
Value of participation:
- contribute directly to the design and development of a national cultural initiative
- build long-term partnerships across provinces and organizations
- strengthen organizational presence in public culture and policy dialogue
Suitable for:
Temple leaders, organizational heads, senior decision-makers, and individuals with experience in public or community leadership
Cultural Ambassadors
Represent your community by participating in the National Gathering and presenting Buddhist culture in a public and accessible way.
This role focuses on cultural representation, public engagement, and building connections across communities.
You can contribute by:
- organizing group participation for the May 25 National Gathering at Parliament Hill
- representing your organization or region at the national level
- participating in cultural programming such as ceremonies, educational activities, and public engagement sessions
- helping communicate the value of Buddhist culture in areas such as mental health, education, and social service
- joining the National Peace Walk as a visible form of public participation
Value of participation:
- increase visibility and representation at the national level
- translate cultural practice into public impact
- strengthen connections across communities and regions
Suitable for:
Temple representatives, cultural leaders, community organizers, and individuals involved in education or cultural outreach
Legislative Outreach
Support communication and engagement with public institutions to advance understanding and recognition at the policy level.
This role connects community efforts with government and public decision-making processes.
You can contribute by:
- engaging with your local Member of Parliament
- communicating the purpose and public value of the initiative
- assisting with meetings, briefings, or community-level discussions
- increasing awareness of Buddhist cultural contributions among policy stakeholders
- supporting petition and legislative advancement efforts
Value of participation:
- contribute directly to public policy engagement and advocacy
- build relationships with government and institutional stakeholders
- strengthen your role in public and civic engagement
Suitable for:
Community leaders, organizational representatives, individuals engaged in public affairs, and those interested in policy and civic participation
